MORTALITY & PURPOSE
Phase introduction
MORTALITY & PURPOSE
Can remembering that life ends help me live it?
Death is not introduced here as something to fear. It is introduced as a fact. You do not know exactly how much time you have. Nobody does. That limitation changes the value of time. If your life were infinite, almost every decision could be postponed. It isn’t. Therefore: What you do matters partly because you cannot do everything. Mortality turns toward purpose. Meaning describes what matters. Purpose describes what you are going to do about it. Purpose does not have to be one grand mission. You can have several purposes. They can change. Your purpose at twenty may not be your purpose at forty. You may discover a new one after loss. After love. After failure. After success. After becoming a parent. After creating something. After leaving something. After realizing that the life you planned is no longer the life you want. Purpose is not necessarily discovered. Sometimes it is built.
